Mulcair coming to Sudbury

The federal leader of the NDP has picked Sudbury as one of several Ontario cities he plans to visit during an eight day tour. Thomas Mulcair is riding high in opinion polls and he’s visiting ridings where he thinks his NDP candidates have a good chance of winning a seat.

Up until several months ago, Sudbury was NDP orange. But former MP Glenn Thibeault suddenly quit the party so he could run in a by-election for the provincial Liberals which he won. Since Thibeault’s defection, Sudbury has been without an MP. But that seat will be filled likely by October 19th which is the time most analysts say the Prime Minster will call a General Election.
