Warm weather, faster snow melt raises flood status from ‘watch’ to ‘warning’

People living along the Mattagami River are being warned to keep a wary eye on the water level.  The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee has upgraded the flood status from a watch to a warning.

It says the water’s continuing to rise because of the warm weather and the associated snow melt.  It adds that the exact extent of flooding is hard to predict, dependent totally on weather.

The committee is advising anyone living near lakes and rivers to secure all property, and have a household emergency plan, should it come to that.
