Spring Clean Up returns to Timmins

Here’s another sign of two things: spring is here; and COVID-19 isn’t limiting us as much as the last couple years.  The city is reinstating Spring Clean Up on weekdays from May 24th to June 3rd.

Waste management supervisor Shane Skinner says you can put the equivalent of a standard pick-up truck load at the curb.

“Approximately 1.6 cubic metres,” he states. “So if you can visualize what you bring to put in a load in the back of a pick-up, that’s what you can put at the curbside.”

Some materials are not allowed. “Looking at concrete and asphalt,” Skinner says to start his list, “any batteries, tires, propane tanks, anything that’s recyclable, textiles, electronics, mixed metals, steel, white goods – obviously no fridges or stoves.”

Skinner says a lot of that can be dropped off on hazardous waste day, later in the year.
