Be wary of CRA phone calls

If you get a call from someone claiming to be from Canada Revenue Agency, be suspicious. MP for Timmins-James Bay, Charlie Angus, says he has been hearing that people are calls saying they owe money in taxes. Or, they are being charged with a tax related crime.

“People are being told that they have taxes owing or that they are being charged with a tax crime. Don’t do anything. Don’t call them back. Canada Revenue doesn’t operate this way,” says Angus. “You should call the Anti-Fraud centre. Police deal with this all the time and need to know when something is happening that is not legit.”

If this happens to you, don’t call them back or give any information. Call the anti-fraud center at  1-888-495-8501 or go online to the Anti Fraud Centre Website
