A landmark building in Timmins has been listed for sale. The Chamber of Commerce is asking $638,900 for its building across from the McIntyre Arena.
Vice-president Kraymr Grenke says the board wants to shift from being a landlord to being a tenant.
“The building has been very good to the Chamber, but the Chamber’s looking forward to having a more accessible point, a place where Chamber members can utilize the spaces more often,” he says, explaining that that means use of the boardroom, for instance.
It already knows where it’s going to be a tenant, but Grenke is evasive when asked where. He says it’s “more west” and nearer to City Hall, which is good for the close two-way relationship.
“I don’t want to say downtown, but it’s towards that way, to work with our other partners in the BIA and the TEDC. We do a lot of work with those organizations, so we look forward to be a bit closer.”
The building across from the Mac was built in the early 1940s. The Chamber moved in in 1990.
