Everything set for Iroquois Falls Winter Carnival all this weekend

The weather forecast could hardly be better for this weekend’s Iroquois Falls Winter Carrnival.

The man with two hats – mayor and carnival chairman Tory Delaurier – says it kicks off tonight at six in the parking lot behind the bowling alley. It features a sliding hill, bonfire and fireworks.

Tomorrow is what he calls “the really big day”. The demolition derby and drifting races are set for the snow dump at the south end of d’Iberville Ave.

“The drifting races start at ten o’clock and the demolition derby itself starts at one,” says Delaurier. “And we exepct over 18-hundred people, because last time we did this, we had 18-hundred.” Delaurier confidently predicts a crowd exceeding 2,000.

“We’re going to have kids’ events for free for the rest of the weekend,” he continues, barely taking a breath. “ Minimal cost if anything. And on Sunday morning we have a breakfast at the Porquis Ag Hall.  And at the Legion Hall starting Sunday morning, we have armwrestling for th ekids and we have adult armwrestling in the afternoon.”

The full schedule of fun and food in the Falls and Porquis is available here.
