MOH urges limiting holiday contacts

That insidious thing that won’t go away – COVID-19 – is even messing with the Christmas lyrics “Faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us”.

The medical officer of health for the Porcupine Health Unit, Dr. Lianne Catton, is urging us to limit our contacts this holiday season.

“We know this has been an incredibly, incredibly difficult year,” she acknowledges.  “And we know that we’re heading into a time when people most need the support and surrounding of loved ones and friends and family Covid really loves it when we are getting together in closed spaces with lots of individuals and not wearing masks or distancing.”

The doctor notes that Omicron is more transmissible than previous strains of the virus. She expects many more infections, even with precautions in place.
