One way or another, the Timmins Summer Concert Series will be back in 2022.
Organizers Peter Lawryniw and Julie Cyr got the blessing of council last night. Lawryniw says it will be back at the Hollinger Park, now that remediation work there is done.
“We are proposing to have the 2022 Summer Concert Series over the course of ten Wednesdays like they originally were,” he outlined, “starting from the last week of June up to the last week of August.”
East end councillor John Curley pointed out to Lawryniew… the absence of mention of Bannerman Park in Porcupine.
“The reason why Bannerman Park wasn’t included in the presentation,” he replied, “is because normally that whole series is funded by the Bannerman Park committee. So none of that funding was coming from the city or any of the sponsors in previous years.”
Lawryniw assured Curley that Bannerman Park will be a venue.
There was no series last year. It went digital in 2020, and organizers say it’s easy to readapt to that format, should the pandemic so dictate.
