Annual Timmins Police toy drive tomorrow

Expect heavy police presence outside the Bargain Shop on Algonquin East tomorrow, for all the right reasons.

The community policing section will be having its annual toy drive.

Communications coordinator Marc Depatie says all the new toys collected will go to Victim Services.  It knows who in town might need help ensuring there are toys for their kids under the Christmas tree.

“We’re hopeful that anybody that is interested in donating a new, unwrapped gift can drop it off here at the police station, or Saturday morning at the Bargain Shop,” he remarks.

Depatie adds that a small amount of the toys are saved for other times of the year.

“We do have a holdback for those persons who are, based on their interactions with Victim Services, might be in need of a little reassurance in terms of a plush toy or some other gift that will ease that person’s anxiety, that child’s anxiety.”
The toy drive is tomorrow from 10:00am until 2:00pm.
