Learning centre looking for financial support for homework club program

From its new location next to Shoppers Drug Mart at Algonquin and Cameron, the Timmins Learning Centre hopes you’ll think of its homework club this Christmas.

Executive director Genevieve Lemieux says that’s a tutoring program for kids from Grade 1 to 12.

“There’s no minimal amount,” she observes. “We’ve had families who have given us $25.00, we have organizations that have given us $5,000. And this was last year, so we’re hoping to get that same revenue again this year.”

Your donation gets you a tax receipt.

Lemieux says donations pay the full cost of the program.

“That’s why we kind of try to do as much as we possibly can to expose the program. So we currently have 40 children accessing our program right now,” the executive director adds.

Lemieux hopes to expand that to 60 students.

Details on donating can be found here.
