Yellow brick road a big part of the theme of the Chamber’s 2022 Nova Awards

When you walk into the McIntyre Arena on May 12th, you’ll know you’re not in Kansas. You might wonder if you’re even in Timmins.

The Nova Awards gala is back, and the Chamber of Commerce has chosen as its theme, “The Wizard of Oz – there’s no place like Timmins”.

Business services manager Carmen Swartz says you’ll enter on a yellow brick road.

“The theme helps us with volunteers and what they’ll wear and the feeling when you walk into the venue,” she explains. “We do have some people that like to dress the part. So we absolutely encourage that, but not necessary.”

The same 15 categories for business awards will be back.

“You know, it works,” Swartz observes, “so we’ve really stuck with the same and we’ve been really fortunate to have all of our event partners step up and support the event until 2022.”

Swartz says a good way to show your support for local business is to nominate one for an award. You can do that until January 28th.
