Young author’s first book on amazon.com

A young man from Val Gagné has had his first ever attempt at writing and illustrating a book picked up by amazon.com.

Twenty-one-year-old Caleb Lessard has autism.  He says he came up with the idea for “Fox and his Friends” while a student at Iroquois Falls Secondary School.

“My teacher, Mikaela Gibson, told me to make a book and then it hit me, ‘Oh, wait! Why not Fox and his Friends?’” he explains.

The story is about Fox, who was teased by other boys, wanting to have friends.  The author says that one day when he was fishing, something amazing happened.

“So then he saw a rabbit’s tail, then he realized it’s not his tail, it’s a rabbit’s tail. And that’s when he met his first friend.”

Lessard also illustrated the book with his former high school teacher, Mikaela Gibson, filling in the background art.

He says he’ll consider writing a second part to “Fox and his Friends” if enough people like the first one.
