Approval expected for new bike lanes

Adding bicycle lanes to Ross and Jubilee Aves. from Thériault Blvd. to Pine St., and down Thériault to Vimy Ave. is “really an exercise in paint”.

That assessment was given to city council last night from consulting engineer Michael Cullen.

It actually includes reducing Ross and Jubilee by one car lane to allow a bike lane on each side, and making car lanes on Thériault a bit narrower.

The bike lanes on each side of the streets will be painted green in areas where they’re shared with cars.

The city’s public works and engineering manager, Pat Séguin said it will also take about$3,000.00 for appropriate signage.

Councillors Andrew Marks and Michelle Boileau called the idea “transformational”.

The plan is expected to be given final approval at the November 23rd meeting.
