First Nation residents in Northern Ontario with diabetes have some good news.
A doctor with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine is trying to develop programs and policies to help people with the disease. Kristen Jacklin is leading the study thanks to a $770, 000 grant.
The goal is to analyze diabetes data among First Nation people and develop treatment programs. Helping her are researchers from Nipissing University in North Bay and Queen`s University in Kingston.
In addition to improving treatment, the team of scientists will analyze the kind of care that`s currently available to Aboriginal people with diabetes.
