Fake emergency calls keep Timmins police busy

Someone had Timmins police running around early Tuesday morning with prank emergency calls.  In one incident, which took place about 1:00 a.m., police were told a person was being threatened with a firearm and three hours later another caller told police a person was being confined in a home after being assaulted.  In each case police responded in emergency mode.  In the firearms incident police closed down Algonquin and Birch as a safety precaution.  Police are looking into the fake emergency calls.  Police say these prank calls take resources away from legitimate calls where people really need police help.
