Seniors Rec Centre back in operation, hoping for capacity increase

The Timmins Senior Citizens Recreation Centre is hoping to hear from the health unit soon… allowing it to raise its capacity to 50 people at a time in the centre.

Coordinator Susan Raymond says it’s been operating with 20 people for activities like chair yoga and cards.

Masks and hand sanitization are already required. “We are going to be also mandatory double proof of vaccination with photo ID,” Raymond says. “Mandatory mask the whole time you’re in. Mandatory signing in and mandatory signing because of cards, they rotate tables, so they’ll have to sign at each table they’re at so I can keep track of who you were with the whole time you were in.”

Aside from activities at the centre, there is pickleball at the YMCA on Wednesdays and bowling on Thursdays at Midtown Bowl.

You only need to be 55 years old and pay a $20 fee to belong to the centre. More information is on its Facebook page.
