Get on the lake this summer with Boardwalk Rentals

The first week of Boardwalk Rentals is almost over, with a bunch of positive feedback from the community. Jenica Butler has started her own business at Gillies Lake, renting out kayaks, paddle boats, and stand up boards by the hour. There is nothing like that at the lake so far, with the wake park being the only other activity. Butler says this is something that can appeal to everyone.

“You’ve got the beach, and you’ve got the wake park, but there was no way to explore in between,” says Butler. “Now you’ve got people who are checking all the different birds and the marshes, and just different things that there is to see that you can’t see from the beach or the wake park, or walking around the lake.”

Head over to the beach side of Gillies (along Lakeshore) to see the rentals. You can rent them individually, or in a family pack. Individual rentals are $13/hour, $18/2 hours, and $25/4 hours, and they are open seven days a week, from 10 AM to 9 PM.

Butler has life jackets to fit all sizes, and has first time users watch instructional videos to make sure they are safe out on the water. Each boat is also equipped with a safety kit, which has a whistle in case of emergencies.
