Street lines a priority, says Duval

There are still no lines painted on the road along Algonquin, and city council is trying to fix that. Mayor Steve Black brought the issue up at last night’s meeting, saying he has been told he should be embarrassed by the delay. City Engineer Luc Duval says we are two weeks behind the normal schedule, because of issues with a truck.

“The new piece of equipment has arrived in Timmins, but still requires to meet all of our specifications,” explains Duval. “One of them is nozzle size, for being able to do four inch lines. So we’re still in the process of finalizing the acceptance of the equipment.”

Duval says he is making the issue a priority this week. He says all of the equipment should be working by next week, but he will try to get the old trucks on the street this week to get started with the sweeping. Once that is done, the line painting will start.
