Community Project is growing local veggies

Look for herbs and veggies to start popping up downtown. A new community project called TWIG (Together We Grow and Inspre) is growing vegetables to help with local food security.

They have beds at the Timmins Museum, and they are switching out flower pots for vegetables downtown. All of the food grown in their gardens around town will go to charities like the Anti-Hunger Coalition.

TWIG’s mission statement:

Come join the growing trend towards local food security and permaculture as we work to increase awareness about the feasibility of growing our food locally through our attractive, vibrant, and functional public spaces within the city which will not only feed others but also improve community well-being and pride.
