Porcupine Health Unit to join rest of province in step 3 of reopening

Our region will officially be joining the rest of the province in step 3 of the reopening plan. Porcupine Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health Dr Lianne Catton confirmed it today and says the delays of not moving forward with the province appear to be behind us.

“We’ll continue to move forward with the province as it progresses from one step or stage or response level in the pandemic to another unless something drastically changed,” she said. “We’re really quite hopeful and confident that with the ongoing commitment of everyone that we will not need to look at that again.”

Catton says it’s exciting that the region has moved to step three quicker than what was anticipated.

“We’re almost there – there is definitely definitely a much brighter light at this very long and challenging tunnel,” she said. “And I think we have done phenomenally well as a region to protect to protect ourselves to protect others and to make the tough decisions that needed to be made to get us to this point.”

Larger indoor and outdoor crowd sizes highlight some of the changes ahead in step three along with the return of in-person dining in restaurants.
