Virtual Canada Day in Timmins bigger, better and more user-friendly

Timmins is stuck with its second Canada Day celebration that can only be virtual.  But Marnie Lapierre at Tourism Timmins says it’s going to be an entire week long, delivered on a more user-friendly platform.  It’s incorporating St. Jean-Baptiste Day, Multicultural Day and National Indigenous Peoples Day. The free app called “Snapd” is handling all that.

Lapierre says Canadian rock band The Trews is recording a concert specific to Timmins.

“They’ll be discussing some our local amenities, things to do, encouraging people to support local,” Lapierre outlines. “A very Canadian spin on it.”

The online party starts at 9:00 June 27th, and lasts until July 4th, with features being added along the way.  And it’ll be 24 hours a day.

“We know we’ve got shift workers in town and we want to make them happy, too,” Lapierre proclaims.  “Mind you, the acts specific to Canada Day will only be available on Canada Day until July 4th.”
