Case closed on incident of suggestive remarks being yelled from an SUV

Parents of kids and tweens in the area of Park Ave. can relax.  Police have gotten to the bottom of a disturbing incident last week.

A boy told his parents that while he and his buddies were cycling, four people in an SUV were yelling suggestive remarks at them.

City police communications coordinator Marc Depatie says the four occupants have been located.  Officers had a stern talk with the teenagers… and consider it no more than a prank.

“It never quite met the threshold of criminal activity,” he observes. “But inappropriate behaviour will be investigated by the Timmins Police. If evidence warrants a formal charge, then that’s the avenue we’ll proceed with.”

Depatie also says the young boy who reported the incident deserves praise.

“This child did the absolute right thing by going straight home and notifying an adult. That in and of itself is very encouraging. We don’t get enough of that.”
