Cookbook celebrates Timmins’ ethnic diversity ‘through the love of food’

It doesn’t look like the annual multicultural festival in Timmins will be able to be held this year. So the Timmins Multicultural Society is busy working on a cookbook that features the wide array of ethnic cooking in the community.

President Helen Yaschyshyn says it’s really more than just a cookbook.

“It’s a story of what our community is made up of,” she states. “It’s going to bring that awareness and inclusion among the diverse cultures through the love of food.”

Yaschyshyn is also hoping to get local food producers and vendors involved.

You can submit your recipes through this link.

“To those individuals that have extreme difficulty doing that,”” Yaschyshyn adds, “they could call the Anti-Hunger Coalition and they can put them in contact with someone that’ll five them a hand with that.”

The recipe deadline is June 30th. Proceeds from the book – which will go on sale in the fall – will go to the Timmins Anti-Hunger Coalition and the Timmins Multicultural Centre.
