Tire manufacturers and police are telling us that the time to get the winter tires off our cars is now.
Timmins Police communications coordinator Marc Depatie says it’s a safety issue.
“The compound that is used to make the tire and the tread design is designed to enhance your grip on slippery surfaces – snow and ice,” he tells My Timmins Now Dot Com. Winter tires are only suitbale in sub-zero winter conditions.
“These products are on the market to enhance the safety of the individual motorist,” Depatie asserts. “It’s in their best interest to take that into consideration.”
In addition, if you have studded tires, the deadline to have them removed is April 30th.
