The beautiful weather seemed to make drivers’ feet heavy on the highway between Schumacher and South Porcupine on Friday.
Responding to several complaints about speeding along that stretch, Timmins Police undertook a traffic initiative. Between 10:00am and 6:00pm, they ticketed 25 drivers.
Traffic section Constable Chris Gauthier remarks that speed is the number one factor in collisions that cause serious injuries.
Communications coordinator Marc Depatie says day-long initiatives like that one are in response to recurring complaints about high speeds along stretches of road like that one.
