That one last rip on your snowmobile you were looking forward to has just been cancelled. It’s no surprise because of how much of our snow has disappeared over the last week that trails are closed for the season.
Timmins Snowmobile Club communications director Gilbert Fortin says grooming operations have ended and signs and stakes are being removed and gates closed.
Fortin adds that the only safe and sensible course of action now is to put away your sled until next winter.
Conditions due to the spring thaw are extremely hazardous anywhere. Roads and road crossings are bare and ice on all waterways is melted, melting or unstable.
