Porcupine Music Festival’s 81st year will be an e-festival due to current events

The board of the Porcupine Music Festival is proving that things that seemed impossible a year ago really aren’t. Board member Cameron Grant says it’s leashing technology to provide a format for a festival totally online.

Music teachers are being asked to record video of their students performing.

“They only have one take, much like they would when they get up in front of an audience, of course,” Grant outlines. “And they’re going to be submitting those videos for adjudicator review.”

Some awards will be presented, but not all.

“We do have the legacy Rose Bowl. It’s been given out nearly every year for 80 years. But unfortunately this year, we’re going to hold it off, because that really factors in having to be in an actual room with an actual audience.”

The deadline for submissions is this Friday, March 12th. Grant says an online concert will be assembled with the entries.
