Burning permit sales move to City Hall

Where you buy a burning permit in Timmins is changing as of Monday, and that’s all. Instead of going to the fire department on Cedar Street, you’ll go to Service Timmins at City Hall.

Fire Chief Tom Laughren says that’s been the plan since the development of Service Timmins. “It’s a Monday to Friday service, one-stop shopping,” he observes. “Obviously for people coming in to City Hall, it’ll be a little bit easier, better designed for customer-type service than we were at the fire department.”

There is no change to fees or the licencing process. “Somebody came in to burn brush piles or windrows, that industrial or campground type permits, we would go out and inspect when we were doing the permits here,” says Chief Laughren, “and it’ll be no different when we move it over to Service Timmins.”
