The car crash on Sandy Falls Road has claimed a life. It happened Monday night, when a speeding car hit another. The male driver was taken to the hospital but died as a result of his injuries. The female passenger is in serious but stable condition.
The Special Investigations Unit has taken over the case. They investigate when a police officer is involved in an incident.
From the SIU website:
“When police officers are involved in incidents where someone has been seriously injured, dies or alleges sexual assault, the SIU has the statutory mandate to conduct independent investigations to determine whether a criminal offence took place.”
The driver of the second car wasn’t injured.
Neither the SIU nor the Timmins Police have confirmed rumours that a weapon was involved.
