News Three more COVID-19 cases on a dubiously record weekend for Porcupine Health Unit SHARE ON: Bob McIntyre, staff Sunday, Jan. 24th, 2021 (flickr.com) The total number of new COVID-19 cases for the Porcupine Health Unit this weekend stands at 28. Three more were added on Sunday, on top of Saturday’s record setting for a single day of 25 cases. The latest are two in Timmins — one from contact with another case, the other of unknown origin — and another one in the Hearst-Hornepayne area. All currently active cases are in self-isolation. The total since the beginning of the pandemic is 221. There was also a death reported on Saturday, the second during the current outbreak at Extendicare Kapuskasing.
