TADH celebrates Nursing Week

The Timmins Hospital is honouring National Nursing Week with events and workshops. The annual week recognizes the nursing sector as one that is dedicated to Canadian health.

“As the largest employer of nurses in Timmins, the Timmins and District Hospital employs approximately 400 nurses, including Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses” said Joan Ludwig, Chief Nursing Officer, Timmins and District Hospital. “We wish to thank all of our nursing team and other health care team members across the hospital for the outstanding care they provide daily and for making such a positive difference every day”.

Among the events is a workshop on caring for patients with dementia, which is almost 15% of Canadians 65 and older. It is called Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) in Dementia Care: Supporting Persons with Responsive Behaviours. The overall goal of the training session is to educate nurses on understanding and responding to patients.
