Mayor calls this point in the coronavirus pandemic a ‘…critical time for the city’

Who would have thought at Easter that by Christmas, we’d still be dealing with the pandemic lockdown?  Not Timmins mayor George Pirie.

“We’re fortunate that we’re in good shape right now in our region,” he remarks. “We want to ensure that we stay in good shape in January and February.”

So far in the pandemic, the territory covered by the Porcupine Health Unit has registered 125 positive test results for COVID-19.

“This is tremendously important and some would say critical period of time for the city. We know the vaccines will be here, arriving shortly.  We also know that we have six months before we have the so-called herd immunity.”
