New website aims to tell good stories, end homelessness in Timmins by 2025

An ambitious new website whose stated purpose is to end homelessness in Timmins by the year 2025 also means to end misinformation on the internet.

www.timmins.care launched on Wednesday.

It incorporates stories about more than 30 agencies who offer services that will help end homelessness.

Mayor George Pirie singles out the Yo Mobile and the Timmins Police cram-a-cruiser event among stories he wants to tell.

“We want to dominate the conversation – the good conversation in this community, not the negative,” he comments.

Pirie says he wants the site to tell the good news stories about those agencies that are too often overlooked.  He adds that he believes in his heart that Timmins is the city with a heart of gold.

“We’re as good as we ever were and better than we ever were and we’re going to tell that story. We’re not going to be dominated by the individuals in Facebook.”
