Privatization to blame for winter road maintenance

Winter road maintenance and safety is being slammed in a new report from the Auditor-General. Performance based contracts are being blamed for the sharp decline in road safety. That means private contractors get to decide when to send out plows and salt trucks, and not cities.

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson says our roads, particularly in the North, have become less safe under the Liberal government.

“This report proves what the NDP has been saying for years: privatization has failed,” said Gilles Bisson, MPP, Timmins-James Bay. “The Auditor-General has shown that our roads, particularly in the North, have become less safe under the Liberal government. Just think what it will happen if they privatize Hydro One.”
