Selling Hydro One makes no sense, says Bisson

The privatization of Hydro is the biggest problem with last week’s provincial budget.

That’s what Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson is saying about the announcement. He says homeowners aren’t going to be pleased in the next couple of years when that takes over.

“Your hydro will already have gone up about 400%; when these increases that we know are coming are done, 350% about, and then it will go up above that,” says Bisson. “So that’s a problem. And all of this, because she [Kathleen Wynne] wants $4 billion to invest in transit.”

Bisson says that’s like wanting to building an arena in Timmins, and then selling Public Works to make the money.

“You’ll get a one time cash infusion, but you’re going to have to pay more to manage your Public Works, because the contractor is going to want to make money,” continues Bisson. “It’s a very, very, dumb move, and I think it shows the government is very desperate, and that’s what this is all about.”

He says Kathleen Wynne wants to be seen as the one who invested in transit, and she’s doing it at all costs.
