Mountjoy Farmers Market this week will be just ducky, rain or shine

An average of 500 people have been shopping at the Mountjoy Farmers Market on Saturdays this summer.  And Porcupine District Agricultural Society president Rock Whissell hopes to draw a crowd that size again this week.

“We have our 17 vendors that we’ve had throughout the summer,” he reports.  “There’s more and more produce with the gardens being ready, so more fruits, more vegetables.”

Whissell adds that again this week, there’s a treat for kids.

“Because we’re looking at a little bit of a weather problem, it looks like a bit of rain, we’re bringing out some ducks. So we’re going to have some ducks that love playing in the water and even if there’s a little rain, I don’t think it’ll both them at all.”

The market opens and 9:00am and goes until noon, or while supplies last, at Participark on Riverside Drive near the bridge.
