Heavy trucks restricted to the curb lane from Porcupine past Canadian Tire

As soon as the signs go up, all heavy trucks going through Timmins will be restricted to the far right or curb lane.

City council has amended a bylaw, extending the zone for the full length of Highway 101 from the former railroad track bed in Porcupine, past Canadian Tire.

Councillor John Curley championed the move, concerned about the trucks.

“We have a few travelling through town. I see a lot of them trying to pass each other,” he says. “So I think this one here will really help our situation for our roads and our infrastructure going forward.”

“I think it’s really good for the city if we can control the traffic that is going through our city that is causing damages to our infrastructure and the rest of the highway that us as taxpayers are paying for, not the province.”
