Little League called on account of coronavirus

For the first time in its 40-year existence, Timmins Little League baseball is off the field this summer, thrown out at the plate by COVID-19.

President Pat Durepos says his group is following the lead of Little League Ontario, Canada and International by cancelling the season.

“If you look at the COVID situation right now, it allows us to have groups of ten, so if you try to make a ball team with two or three coaches and seven players, you’re not going very far, right?” he states.  “It’s not much of a ball season.”

“We remain optimistic.  If things miraculously open up and we have the green light to get on our fields, we possibly could look at having a little bit of a modified season or modified group games or something like that.”
