Plan being developed for visits at Golden Manor now that govt. gives go-ahead

Several restrictions are attached to the province’s green light to outdoor visits with residents of long term care homes.  It takes effect next Thursday.

Golden Manor administrator Carol Halt says a plan is being developed by her facility.

“We’re definitely aiming for Thursday,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com, “but we want to make sure that whatever we put in place is going to ensure the safety of our residents and staff, as well as those who are coming to visit.”

The plan it will mostly follow the guidelines and restrictions put out by the long term care ministry.

“Certainly we’ll be looking at scheduling visits to ensure that there’s equitable access to families,” Halt adds.

Among requirements are the use of personal protective equipment and respecting physical distancing, even though the visits will all be outdoors.

Halt says the Manor’s resident and family councils are participating in formulating the plan.  As it develops, families will be notified.
