News Gauthier pleads guilty SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Tuesday, Mar. 31st, 2015 Timmins Police Chief John Gauthier has pleaded guilty to Discredible Conduct. Gauthier has been the center of controversy after ripping up tickets for a former city councillor, Gary Scripnick. In May of 2013, Scripnick, who sat on council at the time, ran a red light that he claimed was broken on more than one occasion. A TPS officer ticketed him for running the light, and gave him a warning for expired insurance. Gauthier pulled the ticket, which was worth almost $400. He has not been suspended, as this is not a criminal charge, and the hearing has been put on hold until June.
