The emergency order was issued Saturday night after Premier Doug Ford hinted at it Saturday afternoon. The order prohibiting public events and social gatherings of more than five people was issued under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. It exempts households with more than five people in it and daycare centres that are still open for frontline workers as long as there are less than 50 people.
