School buses for all four school districts in Timmins have been CANCELLED for today (Friday, Ferbuary 28th, 2020). Schools will remain OPEN.
The cancellations affect all four of Timmins’ school boards:
- Conseil Scolaire Public du Nord-Est de L’Ontario
- District School Board Ontario North East
- Northeastern Catholic District School Board
- Conseil Scolaire Catholique de District des Grandes Rivieres
However, due to union strikes in the Timmins-area planned for today, only the Northeastern Catholic District School Board (English Catholic) and Conseil Scolaire Public du Nord-Est de L’Ontario (French Public) will be open for students today, but only those who can be transported to/from school by their parent/guardian. The other three boards are partaking in education-related strikes today, and those schools will be closed to their students.
School buses are also cancelled in Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Hearst, Matheson, as well as Kirkland Lake South to Temagami, and many surrounding areas.
