Winter carnival activities downtown this Saturday

Third Avenue between Pine and Cedar Streets will be closed this weekend…as the BIA teams up again with LaRonde for winter carnival activities.

BIA executive director Noella Rinaldo says there will be a famrers market and crafters indoors at the old Seymour’s Pantry… a fire pit with marshmallows… and free maple taffy on snow… all on Saturday.

“But then we have the Beaver Tails, which are going to be Friday, Saturday and Sunday downtown, so people are quite excited about the fact that Beaver Tails are coming back to Timmins.”

Beaver Tails originated in Ottawa.  They’re dough flatted like a beaver’s tail, deep fried and then dipped in brown sugar and cinnamon.  There are also fancier versions available with fruit fillings or things like chocolate and bananas.
