City council to do a cost analysis on a new aquatic centre

Timmins city council has voted yes to look into developing a new multi-use recreation centre.

Mayor Steve Black tabled the idea of a feasibility study at council last week, saying the cost was already planned for in the budget.

He says he wants to do a land study.

That aquatic centre would then replace the Archie Dillon pool.

Black says if the land allows for it, that rec centre could potentially have arenas, indoor soccer, and other sports facilities.

He says it would need to be built in phases based on cost, but the feasibility study is the first step.
