TSO Christmas concert on Saturday

“A Christmas in Brass” is the name of the Timmins Symphony Orchestra’s annual holiday concert.  It goes this Saturday night in the Charles Fournier Auditorium at Ecole Secondaire Catholique Thériault.

Director Josh Wood says The Hogtown Brass – a quintet from Toronto – will perform on its own, with the orchestra, and with the TSO choir.

“The sound of brass instruments has always been sort of linked to Christmas and a lot of Christmas music has some really wonderful brass instrument writing in it,” Wood remarks.

“Our annual feature is a children’s choir that’s made up of students from Don Bosco, from Timmins Centennial, from Earle Miller and from a local francophone youth choir called De Tout Choeur.”

The orchestra will also play a Christmas piece written by former director, the late Geoff Lee.

The concert begins at 7:30pm Saturday. Tickets are available at the Timmins Museum.
