Radiothon ensures families in Timmins have Christmas dinner *TOTAL UPDATED*

Monday afternoon update:  Another $2,500 has come in, bringing the total raised to  $36,245.75

Saturday was a long, but rewarding day for the staff of Moose FM and the Lions Club.

We spent 12 hours on the air from Timmins Square, accepting donations for the Stan Fowler Santa Claus Fund during the Feeding Families Radiothon.

Just before nine o’clock that night… Moose program director Shane Button counted down to the announcement of the total raised during the day by Stan Fowler Fund chairman John McCauley. “Three, two, one, $33,722 (cheering).”

McCauley spoke of the experience of delivering grocery vouchers to those families.

“It warms the heart when you know that you can help all these people and they actually appreciate it.”

Among corporate donors are Glencore’s Kidd Operations and Newmont Goldcorp Porcupine… each presenting cheques for $5,000.
