News Ice fishers, take note and be careful SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Tuesday, Mar. 17th, 2015 As the temperatures begin to warm up, the MNR is reminding ice fishers to be careful. Ice conditions can be deceptive and variable, as it doesn’t freeze uniformly. Clear blue ice is the strongest, while white opaque ice is much weaker. Check all ice conditions with local ice hut operators before heading out, and let others know where you are and when you’ll be back. Many anglers will wear a floatation suit and carry ice pick just in case.
