Our parade target: 1,600 pairs of socks

We have a number –a challenge, if you will — for the number of socks to collect along the Santa Claus Parade route tomorrow night: 1,600 pairs.

That way, we’ll sock it to the Socks Timmins Socktober campaign.

“Socktober was tremendous,” according to coordinator Carol Halt.

That’s how many pairs were collected in Socktober, 1,600.  So that’s our target: to better that, when 93.1 Moose FM and My Timmins Now Dot Com partners with Socks Timmins in the parade.

The early winter weather this week only serves to underline how important socks are.

“It’s such an easy thing to donate new socks to help out those who are in need and just keep everybody warm this winter,” Halt remarks.

The parade begins at six o’clock.  We’re looking for new, never-worn socks for men, women and kids.

“It’s going to be a fun time tomorrow at the parade,” Halt adds, “and looking forward to everybody waving their socks so we can be picking them up along the parade route and we’ll be doing an update on totals next week.”
