Don’t forget to bring socks to the Santa Claus Parade Saturday night

Last minute preparations are being made for the big night this Saturday:  the annual Downtown Timmins Santa Claus Parade.

Co-chair Keitha Robson says there are 50 entries that will snake their way through downtown streets beginning at 6:00pm.  The theme is “the songs of Christmas” and the weather’s looking okay at minus-five.

“It’s our 30th anniversary so we hope that this year’s parade and the songs of Christmas fill your heart and start the season,” Robson comments.

She notes that some parade participants will be collecting from spectators along the route; things like letters to Santa, non-perishable items for the food bank; and, of course, Moose FM and Socks Timmins picking up new socks for those who need them.

“You’ll appreciate your own socks and when we’re standing in minus-five and there’s lots of people who need those, it’s great that we’ll be collecting them and donating them to those who do.”

Our target is to fill the Moose cruiser with socks.
