There’s only a week and a half left until the deadline to turn in your shoe boxes for the Samaritan’s Purse “Operation Christmas Child”. It sends the boxes to needy children in various parts of the world.
Timmins coordinator Peggy Bendell isn’t sure how many boxes to expect locally… because technology has caught up with how people get the empty boxes.
“They just went online, ordered the boxes and they were shipped to them by Canada Post, which is very different,” she explains. “I’m usually delivering all the boxes to the schools and the churches and the businesses.”
Bendell adds that the final number will be a nice surprise. She’s asking you to get yours in to one of the collection locations by Saturday, November 23rd.
“The churches are doing theirs on the 24th and then we’re picking up from the schools on the 25th because they’ll have finished theirs on Friday the 22nd. So it’s all coming together now.”
